My wife and daughter and daughter on the way.

beer and bbq
Michigan State athletics
Detroit Tigers

Thats about it as golf takes up pretty much all time not devoted to the above 4 interests.
I get it, you are mad at the world because you are an adult caddie and few people take you seriously.

Excellent spellers usually lack any vision or common sense.

I know plenty of courses that are in the red, and they are killing it.

Mark - Woolwich Arsenal - touche!  Love it.

We need more football battles in this forum.  It does come up from time to time.  We have Chelsea supporters, ManU, and dare I say a few other Gunners.  I seem to recall someone here professing the odd preference for Spurs... can't recall who the poor fellow is.

Tom: Morgan (the 10 year old) got interested in United as Beckham had played for them, Wayne Rooney will again (after he recovers) and the YES (NY Yankees sports network) network used to have replays of the ManU games before we got Fox Soccer Channel last year.  She knows who Thierry Henry is, most of the players are for The US and England National teams, etc.

Being a United fan is like rooting for the Yankees, and we are Yankee fans.

Her school Principal played for Wigan and he is a long-time Liverpool fan....one of our best friends is from Liverpool and is a great Everton fan (go Tim Howard, a former ManU goalie and NJ guy).....we have a great running debate during the season on how each team is playing.

You're allowed to pick any team you like.....I even have friends who are die hard Red Sox and Mets fans and hate the Yankees.  It makes the season much more interesting to tease and razz your friends when their team does a crash and burn when they play your favorite.

Pretty much all sport (especially Chelsea FC who I have had a season ticket for since I was 4), travel, cars and technology / gadgets.

Amazing how many Chelsea fans these days feel duty-bound to say how long they have supported the club to distinguish themselves from the johnny-come-latelys.  ;D

Crystal Palace FC
Hatred of Man Utd

Bruce:  you needed say no more after you stated you were Yankee fans.  Do you also root for the Lions against the Christians?  Hurricanes against land masses?  Trump against a homeless person in a poker game?

All in good fun.  It's all understandable, we all come to our rooting interests in our own ways.  My son and I are Arsenal fans primarily because years ago I thought the name was cool, and he picked up on them as being great in a video game we have.

Jon - well said re Chelsea fans.  And I must say I have nothing but love and respect for Palace.

As a life long Yankee fan, you have are required to be a supporter of:
1. Lions
2.Hurricanes
3. I draw the line at Trump.
4. To this day, I can not understand cricket (but I'm an American).

5. I do root for the Cubs as I hope in my lifetime they will again win the pennant....I would be greatly conficted if they played the Yankees in the World Series.....I was hoping in '04 the Cubs and Red Sox would play after the Yankees crashed and burned.

I have my fingers crossed the Cubbies come thru this year...they are playing well.

When you root for the NY Rangers in hockey, you have some qualities....after all, 1 Stanley Cup in 60 years ranks right up there with the Red Sox World Series wins (we don't know this years outcome yet).

Beckahm certainly put a buzz into our area this weekend..66,000 came to see him play in Giants Stadium....if a few more international name brands came and played here in the US, soccer would be on track to compete with the other televised sports here.....our kids generation all playe soccer, so it only makes sense.....games done in 2 hours....defined amount of TV time for a match....sounds like a no-brainer to me.

Behave!!! I've lived in Chelsea all my life and the reason I feel I should quantify my support is precisely because there are so many nouveau "supporters" around - and it's not just Chelsea that suffer from that.

On a golfing level, many of the Chelsea players play regularly, although their choice of course won't surprise many - Wentworth and Wisley being very popular due to the facilities on offer.

Tom:

Touche, I can live with that.

This also reminds me a conversation I had with another Chelsea fan, regular in this forum, who can identify himself if and when he reads this, and if and when he cares to.  I was giving him the standard ribbing out hopping on the Chelsea bandwagon, only starting to root for them now that they're great, etc. etc. etc.

In his inimitable way, he stated:

"Thomas, I'll have you know I played for the Chelsea Juniors in the late 40s."

I believe I shut the hell up.

While sadly I don't have as much life experience, I certainly have been attending long enough to go through the bad times and to now appreciate the good times.

My father doesn't play golf - I wish he did - so football is our bond, something which I believe each son needs with his father. I plan on golf and football being that if / when I have children, which is why the cadet scheme at my club is such a great idea.

You remain good by me, as is the other chap, and really all fans of ManU.  Heck, I can live with you all, as misguided as you may be.  It's Spurs fans I have a tough time with.

 ;D

And that is so well said re father-son bonding... my son and I have a lot of fun with Arsenal, as my own father and I have my entire life re other teams (soccer as we Americans call it isn't his thing).  We all share golf too, or at least are more so now that my son has started more actively playing... It really is a great part of life.

I'd respond, if only my beloved club weren't making a laughing stock of its self today.  Best manager and team for 15 years and we shoot ourselves in the foot.  You don't get that with Boring Boring Arsenal or Roman's Chelski.
In June I will be riding the first three stages of this year's Tour de France route for charity.  630km (394 miles) in three days, with 7800m (25,600 feet) of climbing for the William Wates Memorial Trust (https://rideleloop.org/the-charity/) which supports underprivileged young people.

We all live and die each week with this, Mark.

And I'd take Boring Boring Arsenal these days.  We do play with flair for sure now, but wow do we have a way of making every game interesting.  See Mad Jens' flubs lately?

I shall continue to pray for Palace, which in fact is my daughter's adopted team.  She decided on this purely based on the name.  Hey, there are worse reasons.

I cook.  I'm a 6 in golf but scatch as a cook in my own, admittedly biased, opinion.

Does anybody play both golf and tennis passionately?  Some years ago (before I joined a club) I was really into tennis, looking forward to my Saturday matches with as much anticipation as I look forward to golf now.  Without making a conscious decision to do so I drifted away from the game and haven't played at all for over 15 years.  It's a great game but I think it's pretty hard to play both golf and tennis seriously and do justice to either.

Garland,

Add me to the gardener list. Roses are my favorite but in general I just like working around garden. I have some camellias and enjoy them as well. Great color in shaded areas

I have often thought one of the things I like about golf is being out in the general setting. While certainly not a garden in the classic sense if done well a beautiful natural setting.

Not necessarily in this order:

WVU sports--well football and men's basketball.  I've been bleeding blue and gold since I was eight.

A voracious, eclectic, and unsystematic reader.

Winston Churchill
The Civil War
Most history in fact.  Of late I've been catching up on the Greeks and Romans.  I'm glad they waited on me.

Scrabble--I've played in one tournament and may play in more as I exchange active for more sedentary pursuits as  the aging process continues.
Some days you play golf, some days you find things.

I'm not really registered, but I couldn't find a symbol for certifiable.
