I've heard rumblings of a former member of Yale who is now back in the club with the good graces of the club... I actually can confirm it now as truth.

I've heard the same and that there is meeting convened at this very moment to figure out how Yale can best deal with the situation. Reuters is calling this a victory for free speech and for shortish, balding, research scientists everywhere.

It is wonderful to see that sometimes much good comes out of standing up for what's right, even when it's unpopular and puts one's social position at risk.

Now they'll just have to figure out whether the Ivy League can handle rangefinders and bombsquadgolf equipment.  ;D

It would appear that the friend to many of us, Sir Anthony Kojak Dr. Geoffrey Childs, is back in good graces at Yale.  He wasn't for a long time, primarily by his choice as far as I know.  But perhaps he will tell his own tale.

Like you I have an opinion on some issues and a passionate one at that.  If I don't have the cojones to stand behind them they are useless.

Mike- I'm no bigger an equipment whore then most on here.  I still play forged irons which is one up on TommyN  :)  The proshop at Yale sells skycaddies and the course is fully mapped although that is not why I bought one.  Its the other foreign 25 courses a year I play that its a help.

PPS-  Ballyneal is also fully mapped for skycaddie

Pat,

Mr. Childs was a vociferous critic of the Roger Rulewich bunkering at Yale,so much so he fell out of graces with many golfers and administration people. As the club, under the guidance of superintendent Scott Ramsay, continues to restore the golf course, it becomes more and more apparent how had the bunkering is and it becomes more and more apparent that Mr. Childs was right all along, although somewhat psychotic in his style criticism.

Mike- I think I deserve some credit for Geoff back in the fold.  I joined Yale this year and I know he can't stand it, if I'm out there and he is not.. You are talking about a man that I had to connive and essentially trick into seeing Lawsonia Links which was probably the most fun he had golfing this year because he was too tired.  It was an interesting journey, we traveled in a scene akin to the movie Fargo at a fast food restaurant that I still think is stuck in 1974 but we made it there and it is still the best 20 bucks or so for twilight golf I'll ever spend.  The upside is Geoff and I can now play in the member member...

No worries, in fact, just to make Tommy crazy, I just downloaded Rustic Canyon and Hidden Creek onto my Skycaddie!  :D

However the thing still has not worked for me on a golf course.  ???

You are correct. I was trying not to agitate him. I have this horrible memory of him standing on the Principal's Nose bunker screaming, "Give me Raynor or give me death," until they came and carried him away and I just can't stand to see that again.
