Way OT - Formula 1
« on: September 12, 2006, 01:53:29 PM »
This is so way OT that I feel guilty and apologize in advance if the mods see this post fit to be yanked, but am excited - a young rookie Polish driver (Robert Kubica) has a chance to cause some stir in Formula 1 races next season.

The crowd here is pretty eclectic (there are even some Americans who follow soccer here...;-)) - so where on cable can I catch some F1 races?

The Speed Channel carries all F-1 races with the exception of Monaco and The US Grand Prix. Those are tape delayed on CBS (pain in the butt).

SPEED does indeed have awesome coverage of the finest motor sport there is...Formula One..the true motor racing event.

I agree with the Alonso/Schu comments.
Schu and Ferrari always seem to get decisions going their way..of course Formula One politics are renowned for being so fair ;)

Growing up in (very) small town Scotland, it was always the cool italian guys whose fathers owned the local ice cream cafes - this was way before we could use words like gelateria! - who drove the coolest cars.

The younger di Restas (and the other local family) were always to be seen zipping around in - among other things I can remember - E-types, Rollers, Big Mercs, a COUNTACH! and all sorts of exotic stuff. I needn't even add Ferraris, do I?

Anyway the current young di Resta is doing pretty good in Carts, but the current young one of the other family is doing even better. If you watch Indy, I bet you never realised this young fella was from SCOTLAND!!!

All that and married to Ashley Judd - cool!

Go Dario!

Did something happen in Italy to taint Schumacher's win? I did not see Alonso's name in the results Monday morning so what happened?

He passed Kubica for third but his engine blew up.
