a quiz to start your day
« on: April 19, 2005, 09:10:36 AM »
good morning all :)

I am REALLY having a hard time waking up today, so I thought that a few of you might be having ther same difficulty, so I thought this question might help you (or something like that):

I believe Mr. Doak only gives 4 holes in The Conf. Guide his "!!!" rating:  without researching which are they?

bonus points:  are there any others you think should get !!! as well, esp for courses built after the book was published

a good day to all

I think the Road Hole might be one.

He's also high on his own #6 at Stonewall.

Adam got the last two --with a TINY mistake:  it's WESTWORD Ho!...and if you knew them from memory that's really good

I'd love to hear what others Tom D. might add to this esteemed list...

Paul--

Thank you for the correction....I was trying to remember the name of the course and hole and I wasn't totally sure of the exact name.

I was talking with someone who considers #15 one of the weakest holes at PV.

Similarly, I've heard one person call #14 one of their favorites and others call it the weakest.

Whomever you were talking to is clearly mindless..#15 is one of ..if not the best long par five on the planet..weak?????
what is this person thinking..or perhaps he is just unable to play the hole ;)

I think that there are a few at Merion that would be worth considering, notably # 11-16-17-18...all great holes IMHO
