I found Riverfront to be in perhaps the best condition of any new (less than 3 months old) course I haved played. Houses intrude on holes 5 through 8. As mentioned in the writeup they are set at angles to the course which helps but unfortunately there are many big two storied homes that are on small, treeless lots. Otherwise, the course exceeded my expectations. Two quibbles: First, the magificent third hole would be just as good at 425-440 yards for us 8 handicap amateurs and Second, the tenth hole was visually very deceptive from the tee vis-a-vis what you found upon arriving in the landing area. Lastly, I think the reviewer was too harsh on what he thinks is a lack of quality courses in Virginia.

Ed, As a new resident of Northern VA I have yet to find many golf courses worth going back to. If you think the review was harsh name ten, heck five courses someone who appreciates architecture would enjoy playing on a daily basis. Please dont include Stonehouse or Royal New Kent. I am looking for courses with more to their strategy than overloading my retina while my mind withers. Looking forward to your resonse. By the way, I think Harborview/Riverside is awesome, and enjoyed many of the holes at Washington Golf and CC, and also think Cascades is pretty good (back nine better than front), but overrated.

Kyel,Would you compare Riverfront to The Cascades and tell us which one you prefer and why? Also, what points would you add/delete to the Cascades and Riverfront write-ups?Cheers
