OT--Training Aids
« on: February 18, 2024, 04:55:26 PM »
I have crossed my 50 years of playing golf. I am hardly one to chase fads--I gave up my last persimmon club maybe a decade ago. But I realize that I have tried lots of training aids particularly as I approached that 50 year mark. I have not stuck with any of them for more than a year. Have you?

I have a knock-off model of the Tour Striker Smart Ball that I have used with some success to help my chipping and pitching.

I have also used the Swingyde on and off over the years. Just last weekend my teacher showed me a slightly different way to use it. I think it will help cure the major, long-time flaw in my swing.

To play golf is to live in hope! :)

I've been using the simulator.  I know my yardage with every club. I have changed golf balls based on my swing speed, and I might trade out my 2 year old irons for some with a lighter graphite shaft.

Best training aid yet!

Have been a golf pro for 43 years and a teaching pro exclusively for the last 20 of those years. Most of the research indicates that training aides aren’t really that effective. That being said I have use a couple that seem to work …

1. Medicine ball -4-6 lbs works, helps players (especially new players) feel the motion of the swing.

2. The Golf Swing Shirt-Best pure training aide helps players engage big muscles and also helps posture and set up. Can be used for full swings, pitching and putting.
