When playing Streamsong if you can't play all three be sure to play the Black at least once. I found the Blue and Red to be interchangeable. Also tread carefully on notifying your family how close you are to Disney World.

Thanks for your reply. I am still looking into the South Carolina area. I have seen some C&C designs so will look into it.

I've currently got access to see Harbour Town and are thinking if I'll have enough time to see Kiawah as well.

Thanks for your advice re: Streamsong.

As for DisneyWorld that's part of the tradeoff I've conceeded one night in DisneyWorld so I can stay at Streamsong.

Thanks to those that have messaged and assisted with my trip.

Only a few weeks to go till I leave and the planning has nearly been finalised.

The itinerary is looking something like this:

California
- Are still working on LACC. Fingers crossed - I hope to see G Thomas's work (and Hanse's restoration) having already seen his great work at Riviera

Nevada
- Las Vegas has been a bit of a bust (literally)! I've researched Shadow Creek but hear differing views on it. From the GCA folk here - is there anything worth seeing golf wise in Las Vegas?

Florida
- Are really looking forward to seeing the Black, Red & Blue at Streamsong

Georgia
- Alas, the "holy grail" will have to remain a dream for now 

South Carolina
- Are checking out Harbour Town and Kiawah

North Carolina
- Are staying at Mid Pines / Pine Needles and cant wait to see Ross' purported masterpiece at Pinehurst #2

New Jersey
- In Final Frontier I, I was very fortunate and eternally gratefull to see a lot of Pennsylvania and New York masterpieces. This time I'm happy to be seeing NJ's + Tilly's Somerset Hills and Baltusrol before I land in NY.

I'm keen to catch up with a few GCA mates from my last trip and meet some new one's. If you are based in any of those areas and would like to try and meet up please PM me.

At the back end of my trip we are flying from the US to UK.

Anytime I'm anywhere in GB&I - I'm very keen to get up to St Andrews and this year will be no different.

I haven't been back for a while and have a few Q's re it:
- Any recommendations for accomodation in/around St. A's?
- I will probably be travelling with my two young teenage kids and would like to ask which course(s) should I consider playing with them at St A's? They are beginers / intermediate so the Old, New, Castle and Jubillee are out IMO.

If you want to go the B&B route in St. Andrews, I highly recommend 34 Argyle Street.  Hugh (big golfer) and Barbara are terrific hosts.  Modern, clean, good size rooms with great shower.


Re golf course for your kids, I suggest Crail Balcomie.  Only a couple of really difficult holes and extremely beautiful.

A special thanks to Ed Getka, Mark Chalfant, Adrian Stiff and Tommy N who made my trip all the more enjoyable.

I will post some pics and thoughts in due course but I was mightily impressed with Painswick & Minchinhampton (Old) - without being on GCA - I would never have seen those courses and what a true delight they were.

Yes, a 224 yard par 4 that is stroke index #11 for the round!  That tells you that something is going to be different at Painswick.
