I had the fortune of visiting Augusta for a practice round this year. There is FAR LESS room toward the back of the green than it appears on tv. It takes guts to hit a ball past pin high on the Sunday hole location and play the slope properly. If you hit pin high the slope only propels the ball to 10-15 ft guaranteeing nothing. Additionally the back to front slope of the lower portion of the green punishes the over-ambitious for both left-side hole locations.

Interesting,

The stats don't bear it out...at least not for this year.
He said the toughest shot. Not the toughest hole.

On a par four, for example, the tee shot, second shot, and even the putting green can affect the scoring average, without any individual "shot" being tougher.

But ultimately it was what he said, not my opinion, so…

I like it.

Geoff Ogilvy said that it was both the easiest and the toughest shot on the course… depending on the hole location.

I like this take. The front left hole location is pretty darn hard even for these guys and the Sunday pin is just plain fun. To get it close like some did requires a perfectly placed shot.
