(OT) Statue at Austin CC

Why does the statue only have Penick and Kite in it? Why not Crenshaw as well?

Could be because Kite is/was still a member there, while Crenshaw left to help design/found Austin Golf Club.

But that is just a guess on my part. ;)

One image comes to mind when you think of Crenshaw and Penick. Anything less is inappropriate.

Yeah, that's the one alright.
Wouldn't work in bronze - the warmth would be lost no matter how great the artist.
As much as I'm fond of that win, I was then and now even more touched by Carl's gesture than by Ben's reaction.
Don't think Carl ever said it, but by the accounts I've read he sure lived your/Gandhi's line about being the change you want to see.

Ben could have been left out because of the shirt he wore that Sunday to win the Masters. Most people wouldn’t even clean their car windows with that thing. ;D

Very good guess.  Tom can be found at ACC regularly, and he still practices and plays a lot.  I've been told that he may have been to Austin Golf Club but once or twice and has not played all 18 holes.

I can see how ACC's target golf fits Tom's methodical/technical game, while AGC's roomier fairways and very interesting green complexes reflect Ben's looser, more creative style.  My guess is that Ben was the disciple Mr. Penick loved most, and Tom was the one he admired.

Tom looks like the kid that always won "Most Improved" at camp.

How come Harvey has flat front pants and Tom has pleats?

Harvey was a man with an impeccable sense of fashion. Unfortunately, his two most famous students were not so astute.
