No Jim, that's from JakaB's hero/avatar, Barney Frank, who doesn't know the difference between a sandwich and a sand wedge.  All the modern equipment and all the King's men could never give Barney the ability to golf one's ball.
Life is good.

Any afterlife is unlikely and/or dodgy.

I thought it was from Voltaire's younger brother, Phil. Oppressed by his brother's immense shadow and ever anxious to produce one gleaming bon-mot of his own that would secure both name and fame, he came up with that one. Sadly, after briefly giving Phil the benefit of the doubt, it took his contemporaries less than a week to realize that the line was pithy at best, and meaningless at worst. Left distraught and destitute, Phil changed his name, moved to England and became a leading road & bride-builder during an economic boom, thereby securing at least the kind of fortune and financial security his philosophizing brother could only dream about (and envy!). Fittingly, he later retired to Scotland and took up golf!

Peter,

What did you expect from your effort above? Did it amuse you?

J - On that particular post I just tried to bring a smile to Jim's face, as he had to mine - 'cause he's a friend. On other posts/threads I have different intentions or goals or questions, it all depends. I hope I didn't offend by the reference to road-building; I thought you knew I was fond of you & your posts.

To the extent that the game is 50% physical and 90% mental, of course it is.  I have a fitting this Saturday and might be able to give you a good data point before the end of the year.

I heard today of a high-handicapper at the club who was playing so poorly that he was ready to resign.  He took the advice of a mate and got fitted.  After spending $$$$ on new equipment, he is like a young kid in a candy store, practicing, playing, and optimistic about his game.  I asked his friend how many strokes the guy improved and he said it was too early to tell.  But that is not important, is it?
