Zac be careful, you will have guys on this site trying to convince you to rebuild the Lido on your property!   Welcome to GCA - look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Zac - A very warm welcome!    I saw you on Morning Drive today and completely enjoyed the segment with Matt.

I really hope you are successful up in Northern Utah.   I get to SLC for work occasionally and love the area and have always thought it'd be a great spot for some great golf.    Utah today reminds me a bit of Oregon when I lived up in Beaverton in the mid-late 1980s - tons of potential, much not yet realized.   Methinks Oregon has hit many home runs since :)

I had the pleasure of chatting with Zac last week during our tour event, total class act, he absolutely get's it, very complimentary and understanding of Superintendents and how hard crews work behind the scenes.

Zac don't get involved in any Merion history threads  ;D

Great addition to the group.  :)

Dan,

I agree, there is some good land in Northern Utah...if you can find terrain that isn't too extreme.  The bigger issue I think with having a top notch course here would be weather and the corresponding maintenance.  The summers get so hot, they have to put a lot of water down so the greens don't bake out.  Golf in the fall is usually the best time, especially when the trees start turning.

There is a fair amount of 4 to 6 on the DS here in Northern Utah, but most of it is private in Park City.

P.S.  Even though I know it'll never happen, I like to think about a course being built here.  https://utah.com/little-sahara-sand-dunes  :D

I like Geoff. He's been nice to me.

I like Tom. He's been nice to me.

I know there's a Geoff/Tom thing right now.

I would hope that it doesn't become a thing on this site.

One guy posts often here, sharing his insights and opinions.
One guy pops in randomly to take a shot at the other.....looks like it is a thing, for one of them

I agree with Pat...

Zac,

Welcome to the club.  Any initial ideas on yardages and width on your design?

I had heard the name Jimmy Blair playing in the tournaments in the intermountain west over the years.  It wasn't until I moved to Wyoming near Utah that I realized that is where he was from.  Great father/son story with a lot of wisdom from Dad.  I am officially a fan of Zac and wish the very best as his dream becomes reality.   The story is one of the best I have read in some time.

Buck,

I've played the 9 holer a few times at Mulligans.  While it won't make Anthony's book, its a fun little course with some interesting stuff.  The range facilities are the star of the show though, it is THE place to go to hit balls in Salt Lake county with heated bays, mats, grass range, and a large chipping area.

The stripng fn the fairway on the cover of that book is truly dizzying.....
