Marble Island Golf Course
« on: August 11, 2017, 11:42:52 AM »
Anyone have any info on or played the NLE Tillinghast(1925) 9 holer in upstate Vermont(Colchester) which reportedly had four holes where Lake Champlain came into play? The golf course shut down in 2002. As someone who went to college in that area it was never on my radar as a student but I wish I had checked it out. Further this appears to have been Tillinghast's northernmost US commission. Thanks.

Tim,

Just looking at a Google Earth, one can easily imagine a 9 hole course with four holes on the water. In fact, if you look beyond Marble Island, the area could have had Vermont's Casa de Campo.

For about 5 weeks per season.  :)

My brother (a rare GCA poster) lives about 5mi from there across from Burlington HS...might have to send him on a reconnaissance mission.  Would be cool to see a photo or two of the place before it closed...
So I jump ship in Hong Kong....
