If a golf course is going to close...
« on: February 17, 2017, 10:54:32 PM »
... does that make you more inclined to want to play it before it ceases to exist, or less?

Does your answer depend on whether it's an old course or a new course?

For some reason I've been bending over backwards to get to the Wynn Golf Club.  I've heard conflicting reviews as to its quality as a course vs. the experience.  Finally realized there are other courses to play in the area, and I'll get to the Wynn when (and if) it happens.

If Wolf Run is really going to close I need to go.  I have wanted to get there for a while.

 8)  When TD's High Pointe was obviously in or going into dire straits, we played it as much as possible, lamenting some conditioning etc from earlier better times, but happy too experience it as much as we did.  Then later, seeing it growing sunflowers and hops on the front 9  and closing holes, just makes me mad and sad its NLE.  Like an old friend, its spirit lives on, and better to have had fun there than not!

I would be more inclined to play it than not. However, we had a course close a few years back (Westwood CC) and I had no desire to see it a final time. I had seen everything I needed on a few occasions (one was a 100 holes in a day charity event) and the course held no significance to me.

The better the course, the more likely I am to see it before the bell tolls.

There was nothing like getting 8 guys from 3 different states to play Piqua before it was suppose to close.  It was great to see true hardcore GCAers play for the love of the game.  No Access whoring, just pure Golf.

I play ASU Karsten at least once a year almost exclusively for this reason. Sooner or later, it won't be there anymore.
