Creeks that come into play on multiple courses
« on: September 25, 2015, 05:46:23 PM »
Butterfield Creek comes into play on all of the following:

Olympia Fields North
Olympia Fields South
Flossmoor
Idlewild

Four courses ranging from good to great. What are some other examples of creeks that come into play on multiple great golf courses?

Cobb's Creek:

Merion East and Cobb's Creek. Not sure about Merion West.

Cypress Creek is in play on Northgate, Champions, and Raveneaux. I can't remember the name of the creek and the exact details but there is one that I think goes through Bent Tree, Preston Trail, Gleneagles, and maybe Prestonwood. Whoever knows for sure please correct me.

The Yarra river isn't a creek but a muddy river running through Melbourne with 5 courses on its banks - Yarra Bend, Ivanhoe, Greenacres,Kew and Latrobe.
Jim Courier famously celebrated his Australian Open win by diving into the river - just outside the stadium.

I saw the title and could have guessed that this group inspired the thread...

Minnehaha Creek runs through (and OVER, at flood times, to very, very bad effect) two publics here in the Twin Cities:

Meadowbrook and Hiawatha.

Both have been closed or partially closed since the spring flooding of 2014.

The Sandy Run goes through Lulu CC, then Manufacturers G & CC and Sandy Run C C before meandering and merging with the Wissahickon Creek all of this just north of Philadelphia.   Wissahickon Creek runs next to the Wissahickon Course (of course!)  at Phila Cricket club, then down through Whitemarsh Valley C C.   Upstream from Sandy Run Wisshickon runs through Cedarbrook and probably others.
I imagine that there are loads of examples like this in areas such as the Northeast US where there are a concentration of golf courses, especially golden age courses.

Outside Chicago, Salt Creek floods Salt Creek Golf Club, Oak Meadows Golf Club, Oak Brook Golf Club and Butler National Golf Club.  Foul little river, that one.

El Desafio (Greg Norman) holes 2, 4 and 5 and Chapelco Golf Club (Jack Nicklaus) holes 3, 4, 5 and 6 share a creek or stream, the Chapelco Chico, with about 150 meters vertical and 1.5km distance from each other. Chapelco Golf Club is considered by many as the best course in Argentina.

The #2 tee shot pictured below a few weeks back at El Desafio plays over it.

I think you are wrong about CCR. Most of the times I've played CCR the creek bed is dry. It's more of a run off in my opinion and I don't think it's Allen's Creek but I could be wrong. It does connect to Allens Creek so you could be right.
