Infinite Variety Golf Design - new website is very good
« on: March 17, 2014, 12:11:47 PM »
Last week, I saw a tweet from Frank Pont stating that he had gone live with his new website.  I've spent quite a bit of time looking around there, and it is really well done.  Lots of insight into Frank's philosophy and how he's applying it in different places, with plenty of historical photos to admire.  I had the pleasure of meeting Frank in Holland last year and seeing some of his work.  I think I could be kept very happy just following him around to some of the places he's working.

Well worth your time to visit.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention John.

I'm curious to know how the renovation work at Blackwell and Copt Heath are going?

I haven't seen any recent comments from Frank about these two.  Maybe he'll see this thread and provide an update.

John,
Thanks for this pointer. A very nicely set out web page by Frank Pont's mob.

I particularly like the break-up of the Philosophy section into a dozen sub-sections outlining their raison d'être with regards to severity, temptation, forgiveness etc. in tandem with a couple of germane quotes from notable architects. Good stuff!

Cheers Colin

John,

Thanks for the heads up. Frank is the man.  I find it hard to believe there's a better authority on Colt on the planet, not to mention his interesting original design work.  Imagine George Bahto with an engineering degree, an MBA and years spent digging it out of the dirt.  One of the highlights of my golfing life was spending a few days playing and walking courses with Frank.

I will check it out. My feel is that when Frank left the financial platform he could have developed a career in some form of art. Instead he chose GCA where those imbedded tendencies are allowed to come into play and enhance a solid practicum of strategy and land development.
