Both good. Black Diamond Ranch has the 5 awesome quarry holes. WW is an all around better 18 ( as a whole ) IMHO

I hated a few of the quarry holes, the vertigo inducing par 3, the cheesy and always soggy signature 15th and the poorly design 16th (tee shot into the face of a granite wall??)

Depends what you are looking for...

I've only played the Pine Barrens course at World Woods.  It was cheap and solid.  Conditioning wasn't amazing...but okay.  And there were some fun shots and some really gorgeous views.  They have another full 18 there as well.  But no lodging on site, at least last I heard.

Black Diamond Ranch is a full on country club.  I rented one of the houses there and stayed on property and had dinner at the clubhouse.  Really, really nice.  The Quarry Course is unique.  I really liked it, but fully understood it to be a novelty.  The other course, the name escapes me, is supposed to be decent...in fact, I believe the members prefer to play that course.

If budget is crucial...I'd lean towards World Woods.  If you want to see something unique in a high-end environment, I'd choose BDR.

I think access might be an issue

Not for Roger.

Well if that is the case, (not that I have played it) then by all means play Mountain Lake, and drive over to Streamsong.

The other course at BDR is the Ranch course and is a all around better course than the quarry- not gimicky.

I think the suggestion of Mountain Lake is a good one, but not close to WW or BDR

Roger,

I don't know how much time you have or if you are driving or flying.  If you are driving down i-75, I would recommend playing Ocala Golf Club (muni).  It is a very solid course and fun to play.

I'm playing Streamsong Red on Saturday. Wish i could play both but only time for one round.

It seems Red is favored a tad more than Blue?

Depends on who you talk to.  I favor the Blue.  Coin flip.

I favor the Red at Streamsong.  I've played both BDR and WW--I can say I was not a huge fan of WW but perhaps that due to mental and physical fatigue from it being summer in FL.

I would take BDR over WW, but having just played Streamsong in January, would take that over both

I've never had the chance to play Black Diamond, but the last time I was in Florida two friends separately recommended it.

Ten or 12 years ago, I would have played El Diablo over World Woods, if in the mood for a Pine Valley tribute. I have no idea how well that course has held up since the recession.

It has been a long time since I've seen WW but I had a fantastic time there on both courses.  Very solid golf and budget friendly.

I prefer the Red Course at SS.  To be fair, I played the Blue in crazy high winds and probably didn't get a true feel for the course or strategy required.
