Can anyone direct me to information on Herbert Fowler? I'm looking for background on his general style and design principles.

Steve the back pages here do have some good stuff.

Here's the best article I know.

A recent thread argued that Fowler did not follow a personal style and perhaps more than any other, he responded to the site.  Even so, that's a style!

EDIT   Have just noticed the disconnect between your Title and your question.

If its about Herbert Fowler, the man to talk to is Philip Truett, who is a member at Walton Heath.
There is also a lot of information on Fowler in Walton Heath's centenary book of 2003

Philip gave me a lot of help with the article Tony linked to above. There is also a biography of Fowler currently in production by a chap called Derek Markham; Philip and Walton have played a major role in that too.
