Royal Sydney 18: Two observations
« on: November 30, 2013, 05:59:25 PM »
1. That greensite view from the fairway. Looks like the players are firing into a moonscape.
I
LOVE
IT!
2. Those poor girls standing on the 18th tee. Fake smiles never endear anyone to anything. The sad side of corporate sponsorship.
I
HATE
IT.

The White River runs dark through the heart of the Town,
Washed the people coal-black from the hole in the ground.

The Emirates Airlines girls standing behind the tee with their phony corporate smiles are, dare I say, downright creepy.

It seems apparent that the bunkers at Royal Sydney are much closer to those at ANGC than the ones at Royal Melbourne. Are those at Royal Sydney original to Mackenzie?

The 18th is made by the view of the clubhouse.  Take that away, and it diminishes considerably

I don't know anyone who can recall the old links - it was a while back ( but I can recall the links at the Australian) , but the plot has a similar Shepherds crook shape to TOC.
Did it really have 365 bumkers, one for every day - I hear that was urban myth.  In any event, a chainsaw is needed.  The bunkers were never Mackenzie, always too many and too small.

On the other hand, huge crowds and grandstand finish by the marquee players, so the organisers will be chuffed - all up a splendid week

Brian, R. Sydney's bunkers are 100% Ross Watson.
