Royal Colwood Golf Club in Victoria, B.C. is celebrating its centenary this year and I am proud to announce, as the author, that the 100 year history is being printed as I write this.
RCGC is the first course designed by Arthur Vernon Macan, and by most accounts, remains the closest to its original design. It was a revolutionary course design for the West Coast of North America and remains a highly regarded course today. I posted a description of the course a few years back in the "In My Opinion" section and for those interested it can be found here -
http://www.golfclubatlas.com/in-my-opinion/royal-colwood/The 100 history is a fairly short book that focuses very much on the development and history of the course and the evolution of the holes, and not on the club itself. I wanted to present the course from a golf architecture perspective, so I promise there are no pictures of people wearing funny hats while attending the 1956 New Years Party!
It is not for me to comment on the quality of research and writing but I can say the graphic design and quality of printing is superb. A fellow club member, Doug Bobolo, is responsible for the appearance, and he is truly a talented graphic designer.
I thought some here might be interested in purchasing a copy and hence this post. Copies will be available when the club receives the book for $40 which includes taxes and shipping. Please PM if interested.
