Richard,
Brent would be the 9th (or 10th player if Ben Sims shows) on Saturday, and we only have two tee times. That is a problem unless you made a separate afternoon time. Let me know and I can call WV on Tuesday.

I am thinking about organizing a weekend outing to Wine Valley (Walla Walla. WA) either the last weekend in March or the last weekend of April, or both. Golf would be Saturday noonish and Sunday morning. Greens fees in March are $45, April $85. Tyring to gauge interest. On the April date I could probably rope in some of my club members. There might be some stay and play packages which could lower the price.

Both dates are now out. We have tee times on June 1-2., the weekend after Memorial Day.  1:50 2:00 and 2:10 on Saturday. 8:00 and 8;10 on Sunday morning. Please IM/PM me if you can make it. Bonus, the Walla Walla Sweets Rollergirls are jamming. Whitman College students will have left. Wine spring releases are the previous weekend.

The Essigs are staying at the Hampton Inn, which has a stay and play package. Since everyone is responsible for their own golf/lodging this may be a good option. ME is also setting up saturday night dinner at Brasserie Four, let him know if you can't make it or are coming with s.o./spouse

Players:
Peter Pittock
Bob Jenkins
Slag Bandoon (N Painter)
Mike Christensen

Richard Choi - Sat only
Victor Santodomingo - Sat only
BMichael Essig
Matthew Essig

Brent Carlson - Sat only

Maybes
Craig Sweet

We have an additional tee time on Saturday at 1:50 clourtesy of Richard Choi. I overlooked the participation of Brent Carlson. We now have openings on Saturday and Sunday

Pete,

I talked to Rich today, and I'm in for Saturday.  Unless I get put on a mission between now and then.

I envy you guys!  I had such an incredible time out there!  What a great drive from Seattle out there - one of the best drives I've taken in America actually - and at trail's end a wild, expectation shattering golf course.  Go get 'em guys.  Have a great time.  Wine Valley is all that and a bag of chips!

Since I will be getting a call any day from the restaurant to confirm the reservation, do I have the number right?  Essig's plus four: Pittock, Jenkins, Slag B, and Christensen.  Let me know if I have that wrong.

Looking forward to the weekend, despite my game being in the tank (don't know where it went the past two weeks; maybe I will find it in the next few days.)

Pete,

The Iceman (don't) cometh.  For the next 72 hours I'm tethered to an area south of Seattle, west of the Cascades, north of Olympia and east of the Sound.  I've spoken to Rich.  I really appreciate you putting this together and am truly sorry I can't get out to Walla Walla.  Y'all have fun tomorrow.

Has anyone sent a PM to Kalen? As far as I know, he is still in Spokane. Seems he thinks he must become invisible once he beats up on an old man with old man infirmities.

 Pete and all,

I was hoping to get away this afternoon but will leave early tomorrow and meet you at the course! Gotta get by the Skagit River over the alternate bridge before traffic builds. Really looking forward to seeing all of you once again. Dinner sounds good and thank you Michael for arranging the restaurant.

Richard Choi, Victor S and Brent Carlson left Seattle this morning at 3:30.  Victor and Brent were in the first group of the afternoon and they dusted us timewise and are probably playing an emergency nine while Richard is stuck around the clubhouse. They also had a 7:30 tee time and will be driving back to Seattle into the setting sun.

Greens were probably 11 5 and putting true. Temps around 80. Probably an underclub 1 day. Need to break for dinner. Wish more people had taken the bait and played.

Thanks to Pete Pittock for putting this together.  It's always great to spend time with GCAers.

Wine Valley continues to impress.  The greens are in amazing condition.  The fast, firm and plush fairways produce the crispest iron shots.

Congrats to Rich Choi on his new personal best round.

I'm looking forward to the next get together.

Pete,

Thanks for organizing this event. I enjoyed Wine Valley even more than I did on my first trip there last September. The greens were in fabulous condition and were always interesting and the course generally keeps you thinking all the way around. Weather was perfect and the company was great! Great to see Slag Bandoon again!

It was great seeing everyone again. WV is truly a gem. If there were more courses like WV, there would be more golfers. The course is all about having fun, not forcing some archaic notions like "testing your complete skillset", "using every club in the bag", or "stern test".

More people should be exposed to this course just to see what golf can be.

P.S. I was terribly disappointed that I was the only one who walked and carried the entire day (45 holes) from my group (cough "Brent", cough "Vic")...

Rich,

I was terribly disappointed that you were only able to walk and carry for 45 holes. Word has it you could have completed at least another 9 but for an oversight! ;D
Also sorry we did not get a game together this time and let's get together soon!
