We went from Burns and creeks to Ponds and lakes.

went from bunkers left and right to forced carries.

Went from courses built to accept a 2 iron to ones built for hybrid/7 wood (i can't hit a hybrid and i have lots of confidence with my 2 iron but it serves me no good on modern courses)

I was born in the wrong generation, i am old school for life...

I wonder if a lot of change happened concurrently.....higher ball flight, wall to wall irrigation(automatic irrigation as well), golf carts, new design philosophies, golf as a business and industry, etc.

Lateral fairway slopes mattered less and approach contours and approach shot angles mattered  MUCH less.
