I was having a missed and much desired round with my Saturday group at Champions Saturday. I noticed when i was heading out to the practice tee a guy I played in a match a few years ago next to his cart while Bob Dylan tunes were blarring out his cart stereo. Then on the way tot he first tee I heard two others with tunes playing at pretty loud volumes. I was told that it was a fad that was taking hold of the place. I was shocked but amused. Is this crazed behavior happening anywhere else?

Just here in town I've seen it at Houston CC and Westwood.  3 of the 5 matches that I played in last week's member/guest at Champions had soundtracks.  A couple of guys from your Saturday group even had bluetooth speakers on their push carts.

Glad to hear you got a round in - let me know the next time that you'll be out that way.

Cell phones are allowed at CGC outside of the dining room.

In the late 80's played a couple of times with a kid who either disliked his playing companions or really liked listening to music while he played for he kept his Walkman with earphones on for the entire round. Pre-iPhone days I'd place an MP3 player with speaker in the carts divot mix holder during late afternoon rounds when I was the only one on the course.

Funny this comes up on here-----saw the golf cart boombox for the first time earlier this year during one of my Naples trips.  And ironically enough, it was two of my buddies from Austin, TX who were responsible.  They said "everyone at our club has these now!"

Haven't seen them yet in the metro Philly area.

Michael George carries a boom box with him during golf.  If you have ever talked to Michael you soon find the music to be a welcome relief.

we get it a lot out here in Cowboy country.

It should be considered help from an outside agency, as the beat of the music, can assist in one's swing.  ;)

I joined up with a group a few weekends ago at Pawleys Plantation who were listening to music in the background--not incredibly loud--while playing and while it wouldn't have been my preferred set list, I found it kind of nice.

Some companies make resonance speakers that you can affix to your cart windshield and they will use the material on the windshield to amplify the sound. Pretty cool.

Unless you are playing a recording of yourself it is not nearly so self-aggrandizing as a cell phone call.  Of course I can do without the DJ like description of every song and what it has meant in your life.  You like Michael Bublé, I get it, I'm not judging you.

I have those speakers they work great. As an aside I was on the range the other day, by myself with some music on, and some guy comes up next to me so I shut it off. Right away he says; "hey I like Jack Johnson don't turn it off"......

A Florida group that was up here had several people that played music.  I was taken aback at first but grew to like it after a couple of days.

Kyle yes a few of the guys do have systems in the pull carts/trollies. It took a while but everything Rodney Dangerfield did became the rage sooner or later. lol

One of the players at the Hundred Hole Hike event in Chicago had his iPod and speakers propped up on his push cart, with country music blasting about 100 yards in any direction. He thankfully didn't mind as I, and others, passed him as we raced to the next hole.

put me down for 'i can't stand it'.  won't even play music on the way to the course for fear of getting a song in my head during the round.

That's always a concern of mine. A local radio station I listen to has been airing promo spots for a cable channel that runs old TV sitcoms. The promo consists of snippets of theme songs from those shows. I won't even mention the shows for fear of planting an earworm in one of you who might happen to remember the theme song from one of the shows. I've had several of those songs stuck in my head during recent rounds. I could have used a nearby boombox for an earflush.

On the other hand, during a recent club outing at a resort course, a guy in the group behind me was playing Supertramp on a boombox in his cart. I didn't mind the music, as such, but Supertramp?
