1. Jordan, this year and this week the timing is right for an Olympic Carousel:
http://golfcoursehistories.com/Olympicmulti.html2. Will, Mark et al - we are blind men staring at this, me apparently above all, but the more I study this the less I see a double fairway or straight hole as you do, and the more I see a dogleg *right* with that "centerline" bunker actually in the crook and the '38 tee angled more towards 18 green. This seems especially the case as I look beyond the 10th hole to the differences in shading on other holes (the back nine photo) and how that *appears* to demarcate the playing corridors. At some point someone will come forward with the evidence that proves me, if not a fool, then just wrong.
3. Mike, as for the comparison to ANGC I would say these are two clubs traveling in opposite directions. Comparing the two SFGC aerials leaves out how far from the original design the club got and then how near it is returning.
But boy does that '38 green complex and approach bunker look cool. I just wish someone who knows can tell us how it was meant to play. Has anyone looked in old golf magazines?
