Dang, sounds like Nashville on steroids.

Thanks, gents.

Bogey, as I was reading through this thread I was thinking the same thing. At least Nashville has good music to its credit

I played Angeles National in late February.  I was pleasantly surprised. It was plenty challenging without being unfair. I thought the design used the barrancas that bisect the property quite well. Decent par threes. Greens that were  interesting enough without some of the goofiness I've seen in other Nicklaus courses. The closing stretch of 14-17 was strong (didn't like 18, a bit cliched and out of character). I haven't played Rustic Canyon or anything else in LA so can't compare.

I'll echo Ted Cahill's choice of Roosevelt.

Of course, one has to remove themselves from the expectations of great conditioning and years of being pampered by playing the finest courses in the country. But, as far as the 'bones' and terrain goes, it's awesome.

if someone else is paying, I actually enjoy Trump National.  (Preparing to be flamed and potentially expelled from GCA).

Take out some of the fountains and there are interesting holes.   The short par 4 1st hole to an island green is one of the best openers i've played if you ignore the 2 million dollar waterfall behind the green.

The drivable 10th is a green hole as well.   Some very good and varied 1-shotters as well.
