BLACK MOUNTAIN, N.C. -- With the design phase of The Cliffs at High Carolina complete, Tiger Woods has b een hands-on with putting his mark on the unique landscape that will be home to his first American golf course.

Woods was back in the High Carolina area on Saturday directing construction of the course as significant progress has been made in the grading and shaping of four of the holes.

"It was wonderful to see everyone at High Carolina again," Woods said. "We are creating an outstanding golf course in a spectacular setting. This will be a course that everyoner can enjoy from a beginning golfer to the skilled player."

While at High Carolina, Woods met with property owners and Cliffs founder Jim Anthony, describing his vision. Woods also emphasized his commitment to the North Carolina course that is inspired by 50-mile views along the slopes of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

"I had a great trip to my first U.S. course and a lot of progress has been made since I was here last," Woods said. "What we are creating is special and my excitement grows with every visit."

I guess that is in the contract and why The Cliffs is progressing - to be the first.
But won't it be his first course?
Cheers

Mike,

I believe he has been building a course in Dubai. I don't know the status of it but I know he started it well before The Cliffs.

Some clicks of the camera to which Tiger was unopposed.

I am amazed that the owner, Tiger and a professional cameraman were all there the same day.  How fortunate.

It must be kept in mind that the elusive charm of the game suffers as soon as any successful method of standardization is allowed to creep in.  A golf course should never pretend to be, nor is intended to be, an infallible tribunal.

Both course have had there economic set backs, its a race that has been going on a while and I suspect will continue to go slow and will be a while before anyone plays on the first Tiger Wood design golf course. I beleive his other project in Mexico hit a brick wall and is off the boards.
