I thought some may be interested in the photo below as I just found it today in doing some research on my home course. It was literally located in a box that was stored in the back of the "dungeon". No one has touched it in almost 20 years and no telling how long it was buried before that.

This was just a few years after the course opened so it is the original green and bunker complexes.

There are four bunkers in the foreground, with a large landing/run up area between the bunkers and the front of the green. Two bunkers flanks left and right of the green with the green itself being shaped sort of like a slice of toast. There is also a small ridge running diagonally between the tee and the front bunkers.

Looks like firm and fast was in play! This was taken in June, 1936.

Brian,

Rock Hill Country Club, hole No.2.

It may one of the only original images of the course as the clubhouse burned in 1966.

Wasn't the original golf course a nine-hole layout?

What does it look like today?

My home course was opened about 1915, and was remodeled and added on to by Ross a few years later.  I would love to see shots like that of it, as the oldest I can find are aerials from 1948, and creeping changes in the last 62 years are amazing.  But without ground level photos, it's hard ti figure out how some of the changes happened.
