Greg,

I have the date of the map pegged as after 1909 since the original 17th and 18th holes were still in play in the 1909 Western and this map shows the new 17th and 18th holes.

It looks a little like a principal's nose complex at both #12 and #17, perhaps something Watson brought with him from St. Andrews.

Greg - there appears to be a short game practise area to the right of the fairway on 8, the large area past the green between 4 and 5 is that used or is it a turf nursery etc?

Hearn has shown some flair in designing "the lawn", a nice piece of work.

Here is a little blurb from American Golfer 1/1911. In 1912 Watson was advertising that he had redesigned Homewood (and Ravisloe).

Mark,

If you are referring to the current course, there is a short game area between the 6th and 8th holes. There are several small green sites and bunkers, and shots can be practiced from 80 of so yards to them. I too like Hearn's interpretation of the "lawn" between 16, 17, and 18.

Tom,

Thanks for the Watson article. It's fun to try to add up all of these small pieces of information to try to complete our design timeline.
