Well, that's that.  Four months later, and I've "brought this monster to its knees".

Was it worth it?

Undeniably.  Without a doubt, it has completely changed the way a look at a golf hole when I step onto a tee.  And has also changed the way I design them to begin with.

Thanks for all the faithful readers, and the positive comments that pushed me forward on those dark February nights.

So I'm outta here.  Got a tee time this afternoon, (after the hockey game, of course).

Is the reverse 18th longer than the original 18th?  If so, would the road become more of a factor on the tee shot?

When Bobby Jones, or McKenzie or others advised "us" to study TOC, I very much doubt that TROC was in their minds.  Nevertheless, if they were alive today, and lurking on GCA, I very much feel that they would look at your work and say, "Aha!" more than once.  It is that good.

You have opened up many of the mysteries and fascinations of routing and architectrural necessity and creativity with your work and I thank you deeply for it.

This is the best series of work I have yet seen on GCA, by far, and I would hope that you and Ran can agree to add it, in toto, to the website.  It deserves to be read and re-read by anybody interested in architecture and/or TOC.

Jeremy, I will echo the praise of the others that you richly deserve for this winter fireside project.  While I have the link bookmarked, I hope you will keep it up on the web for sometime to come and also I believe it would be a great separate link for yet another button to push on the GCA list of features on the left part of the page.  Your work depicting TROC is the essence of golf course architecture or design to contemplate this most venerable of golf's sacred grounds to be so versitile as to play backwards.  If future webcruisers stumble onto this site and take the time to consider the TROC you have illustrated and described so well, they will in one foray into the subject matter have an opportunity to grasp the genius and magic of our shared passion for golf course designs.  Job well done you old Habitante!

I believe the Reverse 18th would be (will be?) about 10-15 yards longer than the existing 18th, mostly because it cuts diagonally across rather than going directly up (Pythagorean Theorem and what have you... ).  So I don't know if such a difference would make Granny Clarkes Wynd more/less of a factor.  I guess it depends how far you hit your usual tee shot.
