I was attracted to this course (Colt&Morrison) by an old grainy photo of "The White Cliffs of Dover" 5th hole in the biography "Colt and Co".

The photos on their website are small but I think some of the holes look to have character: 3,6,7,9,10,14,16,17. But no sign of the white cliffs at the 5th ???

It got a hidden gem award in Golf Monthly (UK). Anyone know it?

It looks like the current 17th might be the white cliffs.

Looking closely at the routing plan and the old+new photos I actually think it's still the 5th.  I think the clue is the steep hole in the backgound of the old photo, which according to the routing plan is the 9th and the modern photo of this hole shows a sharply uphill hole.  I think these are the same.

On the 5th, the lower bunkers have been removed and the bushes behind the green have spoiled the look of the hole.
