I have recently become the Hartford Golf Examiner through examiner.com.  While perusing the site of San Francisco Golf Examiner Greg Quiroga, I came across a review he did of Forrest Richardson's Peacock Gap just north of the Bay.  He said the following in reference to the dramatic undulations to be found in many of the greens there:

"There is a difference between wanting to play a course again, and needing to have played it before to have a chance at enjoying it."

Is it really possible to patently NOT enjoy a golf course on the first play and then enjoy it in subsequent go-rounds?

Tim,

I've heard of MANY people who've expressed just that about TOC.

Yes it is. The key is that you have to go back again enough to have the opportunity to appreciate it.

"I enjoy a course where the challenges are contained WITHIN it, and recovery is part of the game  not a course where the challenge is to stay ON it." Jeff Warne
