Tucson's Magic Carpet Golf Center loses its giant tiki head. Sadly, the facility has closed.

After the brilliant morse code post, I was expecting so much more from that blog.  Tis a shame.

Forrest:

What was the Magic Carpet Golf facility? Was it one of those wonderful putt-putt places? If so, it just reinforces my "Big World" theory that golf and golf architecture is a great big thing and there really is room for everyone in it!  ;)

Is the plight of the TIKI head something that we architecture history buffs need to get concerned about? Should I make the new USGA Architecture Archive aware of this controversial and perhaps sad occurence.

Forrest, if you'll pay for the UPS or Big Brown shipping and handling of the TIKI HEAD I will definitely find a lovely and loving place for it here on my farm in Pennsylvania.

I had been past it before — never ventured in. I am sorry Tom, the Tiki is not at a bar. Drinking obviously, after a life in golf.

Couldn't have Keep it Classic done something about this?

I think it would have been better that the Tiki ended up on the Mongoky course at Foulpoint. It would have been better appreciated there; o maybe even better, up the road at Boot Hill....
