OK, I did the obligatory search and only found the regular Carthage Club page in the archives.

- What happened with this deal? 
- Did it die? 
- Is someone doing it that is not on this site? 
- If it did die, why?

Ran Morrissett, the founder of GolfClubAtlas, is working on a golf course in Nova Scotia with architect Rod Whitman.

I think it's safe to call the Cabot Links project the prodct of the Carthage Club concept. I don't know the latest on the project, but I believe they are progressing.  Perhaps Ran will offer an opinion.
