He says that greens are largely flat today, because with "old-style contours" they couldn't be mowed often enough to produce the required speed.

I visited one of his courses in France not too long ago, the name escapes me, and it had one of the weirdest green complexes I've ever seen. The green was long, perhaps 30 yards, and narrow with a narrow strip bunker on the right below the green level and a narrow strip bunker on the left, well above the green, carved out of an artificial mound.

Has anybody got a recent picture of Mr. Robinson?  The one in "Architects of Golf" makes me think that he was an identical twin of Dan King separated at birth.
