The Madison Club-Links Magazine

There has been some discussion about The Madison Club in La Quinta the last few weeks.  The latest Links has an article with some pictures and quite a few factoids.  I doubt the online version is out yet, so here are a few tidbits.

Course
-7400 yards
-refrigerated bent grass greens that Stimp at 12
-5 million cubic yards of sand moved to create course and shape building lots
-3,500 mature deciduous trees imported
-$10 million spent on the trees alone
-total development will cost $200 million
-the usual lakes and water falls
-old style railroad bridge across the ravine

Club amenities
-225 members
-range hand picked so it remains pristine
-valet washes your car inside and out while you play
-pro shop employs a full time tailor and shoemaker
-5th tee “comfort” station includes jerky made from filet mignon, marinated duck and chilled Chardonnay
-10th tee includes a grill with fresh sausage and chicken sandwiches
-13th hole includes a fruit station with fresh local offerings
-17th hole includes a classic lemonade stand making hard or soft beverages

Wow!  Not sure what to say.  The pictures look like quite a golf course.  Just not sure I could play without gorging myself!

I am really looking forward to playing there this winter.  The only thing I would not like as a member is valet parking.  I always have too many prescription drugs and check stubs laying around in my car.

If this course were public, doesn't the math suggest that a busy tee sheet at $2,000 a round would be necessary to make the financials work?
