From what I have been able to deduce so far, I believe that 3 greens and one entire hole are remnants of Tilly's work.

I went to mapquest and google maps and the cart paths, some bunkers, and greens are still visible on the aerial.  That is sad that the course closed so soon after opening.  Do you remember the name of the birch run course?  Did Rick Smith own the course?

Matheson Greens in Northport, MI a Gary Pulsipher design was open for about 10 years (1992 to 2002 I believe).

Skyline Golf & Ski Club in Grayling, MI a John Robinson design opened 9 of 18 holes (back 9 was cleared, but never seeded) in 2005 and closed last fall which would be about 2 years.
