Re:How do you prepare to play a world class (Doak 9.5 or 10) course?

The last 10 I played was CPC early in august. Here was my preparation.
Flew to Chicago, connected to LA, flight delayed, missed connection to Monterey.
Flew to San Francisco instead, no luggage arrived, picked up hire car, drove to Monterey.
24 hours without sleep, was nodding off on journey, stopped near Gilroy for quick break,
police car pulled up behind, was questioned, they were looking for somebody, but not me luckily.
Eventually get to hotel at 2 in the morning, a few hours sleep and down to Cypress,
still no luggage, no clubs, tracked them down, not arriving until later on that evening,
bought clothes, arranged clubs, completely wrong specs for me,
no practise shots, a couple of putts, teed off, 5 birdies in the first 10 holes  ;D,

Moral of the story, only preparation required, go out and enjoy the round.

Great story, thanks for sharing.

JC's thread on Crystal Downs got me thinking about this.

How do you prepare to play that "dream come true" or "once in a life time" course?

Once you are there, how do you take it in? How do you treasure the experience?

The same way you prepare for playing any course, by going thru your pre round drill at the practice range and practice putting green prior to your round.
