Reno/Tahoe area?

I just found out that I'm going to be spending two weeks in Reno during July, assisting with a warehouse move. I'm not familiar with the the area or the golf at all. Are there any courses in or around the area that are worth seeing? If not, would the bay area be a possible weekend trip?

Brian, I haven't been there, but I hear that the courses at Genoa Lakes to the south is not bad.

This area/subject has come up at least 5 times in the last few years.  I suggest you do a search but the bottom line is (in no particular order),

Coyote Moon
Old Greenwood
Lahontin
Incline Village
Edgewood
Montreux

Stay away at all costs from Squaw Creek

I agree with the above, with a note that Lahontan and Montreaux are VERY private. I would add also the courses around Graeagle, only about 40 min via HWY-70 from Reno: The Dragon, Whitehawk Ranch, Plumas Pines and Graegle Meadows. Also a new private in that area that may allow some public play is Grizzly Ranch. In Reno, Lakeridge is a solid muni with a great drop shot par 3 into an island green in a large lake. Also near Truckee are Tahoe Donner and Northstar.

Your "Stay away at all costs from Squaw Creek," echos my thoughts of about a year or so ago, "Avoid like the plague."

To listen to the staff going on and on about their Audubon rating makes you think that you are entering Eden.

What was the old line muni in Reno years ago?  I last played it in 1959 but clearly remember some good elevation changes and some excellent holes.

Was it Washoe Golf Course?

Does it still exist?  I don't see it mentioned above.

It does still exist. http://www.washoegolf.org/  I'll have to check it out with that $20 twilight rate.
