While on vacation last weekend, I was pondering a thread on the discipline and mental focus it requires to take time for the wife's sake....while being adjacent to a great course, with no clubs, no mention of golf, etc. So if anyone can beat the steely nerve I displayed at San Ysidro Ranch ......would love to hear about it.
During some down time, I was looking on some info on the canned Miramar project, but stumbled on this tripe served up by the Nicklaus group.......
http://www.nicklaus.com/design/060805.phpI am aware, to some degree, that the course has been altered with construction of the 101 and membership failures.....but this is just silly. I often wonder if some of today's talented architects post this stuff up on the bulletin board at the office for use as motivation, as in pro sports. My personal favorite:
"The club has a lot of history behind it," said Jack Nicklaus, explaining that the vision is to elevate the quality of the course so that it is "at par" with the dramatic chapel-like clubhouse."
