A Simple Pimple
« on: May 27, 2007, 04:39:49 PM »
Amazing that a small (12") mound in the interior of a green can transform a plain, ordinary green into something highly interesting and challenging.  Gil Hanse used this feature in the 8th green at Capstone Club and Mike Strantz used it effectively at Tot Hill Farms' 6th.  Still not sure why Donald Ross buried his baby elephant at the back right corner of the 17th green at Holston Hills (must've been one of Mike Young's "farmers" ;)). however.

Why isn't this feature more prevalent?

Mike,
I think it is prevalent......
I try to do it at least once per course......it can be a pain as far as hyrophobic goes though...
I think even one of the farmers could figure it out and put it a green w/o much problem....
