I just downloaded an update of Google Earth and it appears that Bandon has a slightly better resolution than the previous version.

I was scrolling around the property, dreaming about June, and I have a couple questions for the group:

1) The new green at Bandon Dunes #1 isn't clearly visible (unless I'm just not looking in the right spot) which leads me to believe the images are slightly outdated.  There are, however, clearly visible tees for #2 that are placed to the right of the original #1 green.  Are these tees ever in play?  I've played the course on two different trips and I've never noticed the tees.  In the images, they look pretty well maintained as they are very defined.  Anyone played these alternate tees, and do you just have to do so on your own or are they ever in play?

2) Does anyone think that C&C left a few holes out there in the dunes to the coastal side of #1 and #2 at Bandon Trails.  I know they were intending to do the "various environments" thing, but #1, #2, and #18 are amongst my favorites on the course.  Were there a few other holes sitting there in the dunes - and if you could construct one or two more holes there and still make the routing work, which holes from the current routing would you sacrifice?

2) Does anyone think that C&C left a few holes out there in the dunes to the coastal side of #1 and #1 at Bandon Trails.  

 The land in the westward nubile dunes were not available to C&C.  Holes 1, 2 and 18 were allowed through discussion.  

 If anyone here would ever walk the trail to the beach they'd see several short hole possibilities still available, but left as it is, it is a special, important and irreplaceable section of the local geological documentation of historical truth of the rarest of American geology, and I prefer it to be left untouched.

As for Question one, I think that they have learned over a period of play that they want to stick with the original #1 green, which I'm sure all here will agree with.

As for the tees for #2 right of #1 green, I have played from a couple of them, they are maintained, we played them when going out with one club after playing 36 holes one day.  The tees are not usually placed there (if ever, probably not), but they present an option to try over multiple rounds over BD, or for the resort to use for a tournament.  It is an interesting shot, a bit longer, a little downhill, with a large swale in front of a hard right to left sloping green.
