#1 begins and ends with a series of very ordinary holes but in between there is some very good topography and interesting short holes. #3 is a combination of some original Ross holes, a couple of unknown (at least by me) origin, and a few Maples add-ons. When the #5 was built, some of the original #3 holes were borrowed (2, 3, 4, 6?, 7, 8, and 9) leaving #3 half Ross and half Ellis Maples.
The greens on #3 were resurfaced a year ago and they are much more consistent. However the course gets a lot of play and it is not maintained with firm/fast as a priority. #1 and #3 are easy to walk but if I was spending my money, it would go to Mid-Pines.
