There is an obvious answer to your dilemma!
1. Save your Fife buddies a lot of money and fly over here to meet them! You can play a few Open competitions, 18-36 holes at places like Pitreavie, Crail, Ladybank, Balbirnie, Aberdour, etc. You'll have to get your game face on (if you wnat to), but you'll play with other people than your friends (they'll have their own pairings).
2. When your Fife friends come over to Yale, give them the alternative of:
a. playing by full Marquess of Queensberry/USGA rules, or:
b. just having fun
3. Lobby with Yale to have a monthly "medal" for members over the summer. 6 times a year to actually play by the Rules of Golf. What a novel idea?!
