Mimosa Hills CC- a Ross gem!
« on: February 03, 2006, 04:14:44 PM »
I am rather new to this website and so if it has been talked about before, I'm sorry. I had the pleasure of playing Mimosa Hills CC last fall and was amazed by it's design. I am a huge Ross fan and have played many of his courses here in the south, but I must say that this place is second to only Holston Hills as far of Ross courses I have played. I am interested to see if anyone else has played there, and if so, what are your thoughts?

If you TN neds want another drilling like you got down at The Country Club of Morristown just let me know when and I'll set it up.

BTW Matt there is a thread on Mimosa Hills I started about a year ago. Its mainly about the bunkering and the use of the land fellow GCAer Kris Spence did the work and what a wonderful job he did. I've always said there is alot of Golf Architecture packed into that little piece of property.

LL,
I hope you are soaking up all of this, the drillings will soon end.  Next time I will be better mentally prepared.

Mimosa Hills is definitely one of the best hidden gems I've ever seen or played, and is one of the most (if not the most) authentically restored Ross courses.  It is the home of Billy Joe Patton, and the small membership is very proud of their course.  Ross bunkered Mimosa Hills much stronger than most of his other southern courses.  The bunkering is very similar to the bunkering of his northern courses which lay upon similar land as found at Mimosa Hills.  If anyone is travelling through NC and wants to see a real Ross gem, then they need to look no further than Mimosa Hills in Morganton.  One of the most truly fun tests of golf.
