Are these the silliest course names ever?
« on: February 02, 2006, 11:23:33 AM »
I realize this topic has been broached before, but this article:

http://www.thegolfchannel.com/core.aspx?page=15100&dv=6289509&select=18470&select2=0

is about two of the dumbest course names I have ever heard:

"The Challenge at Manele and The Experience at Koele."

I guess when these courses opened it was "cool" to have names like that.

Perhaps they should just call them Manele GC and Koele GC.

In any case Manele is a very good course.

I can't say I like the practice of adding "National" to a place name to make it sound like Augusta... Angeles National, Carolina National, Liberty National.  It doesn't even denote quality.

How about Hardpan National, Turfless Tees National or Swamp National.
So I jump ship in Hong Kong....

I've said this before but if I start my own club it will be called Banana Hammock Golf Club. I have the name and the idea for a logo worked out, so now I just need a ton of money, a site, and someone to build it for me.

I hope for his sake, it's not the short course at Banana Hammock.

Furry Creek is a lousy name too...

I discovered a new course in my area today-The Triple S Golf Ranch. It looks like it has some interesting holes. I didn't make it into the shop, but I plan to get a logo cap for Tom Huckaby if it looks like I think it  ought to.

There is a course in Delaware called Three Little Bakers.  There must be a story there, but it is a pretty silly name.

The Bull at Pinehurst Farms

One needs an extra large shirt to fit them letters
Live Jupiter, Fl, was  4 handicap, played top 100 US, top 75 World. Great memories, no longer play, 4 back surgeries. I don't miss a lot of things about golf, life is simpler with out it. I miss my 60 degree wedge shots, don't miss nasty weather, icing, back spasms. Last course I played was Augusta

Riverbrook:  aren't rivers and brooks only smaller and bigger versions of the same thing?
