White Oak to be first golf course to get Palmer’s ‘premier status’
January 19, 2006
Palmer Course Design will launch its new Palmer Premier status of upscale golf course designs with the White Oak Plantation Golf Club, a private resort development in the Sandy Plains area.
The tournament designed course of 7,300 yards will be one of the finest quality, say course designers. They say beautiful flowering trees and azaleas will border the fairways as they wind through the stately oaks and maples along White Oak Creek. The rolling hills, lush fairways, and natural waterfall add to the setting.
In addition to providing design services, Palmer Course Design will also take an active role in the planning of the entire project from the construction of the clubhouse to golf course operations and maintenance. The goal is to create a total golf experience that is reflective of Arnold Palmer’s personal style.
The Palmer Premier status will be exclusive to high end developments and will give those who enjoy the game of golf an experience that is synonymous with Palmer’s vision of excellence and his philosophy of providing a total golf experience of the utmost quality. Palmer Course Design has created over 300 courses throughout the world and the first of the Premier Series is under construction right here in Polk County.
Michael Savidge, developer of the White Oak Plantation Resort, said he was both pleased and proud that White Oak will be the first to receive the designation from Arnold Palmer. He said he feels this is only the first of many distinctions that this golf course will earn.
“What we are building is truly going to be world class. I envision tournament play of the highest caliber and serious golfers coming from all over the world to experience the White Oak Course,” says Savidge.
