Give it try for a few months first! I remember my first 2 months were heavy rain and winds every single day, then 4 months of blue sky, no rain, and more wind. The wind wears on you day in and day out. Probably best to live inland a bit and visit the coast when you have an itch.
I've been living on the coast since 2014, and you couldn't be more wrong about the weather here. It doesn't rain every day in the winter, and the wind doesn't blow every day in the summer. We get some of the nicest days of the year in the Nov - March stretch, there's a reason they call it Ban Diego.
For a while last month the best weather in the country was here on the coast, despite it being 100+ only a few miles inland. But please don't tell anyone, we already have enough Californians moving up here to get out of the smoke and heat.
It will be interesting to see the plans for how New River Dunes will fit in with the rest of the resort's dynamic. We already have a locals' course at Crossings, and I don't think that's what they have in mind for this one.
