When I first saw this postcard , it immediately looked familiar .
I have played Ailsa , and couldnt remember a greensite similar to that . It must be the Arrran I thought , but my only memory from the once I played it is of one of the foulest rounds , weather wise , I have ever played and we were not hanging about taking in the views .
Then it struck me , I am 90% sure this is the greensite of the 8th on the Kintyre Course ? .
Looking at my scorecard from that day on the Arran , it reveals a lot of big numbers and no hole called John O Groats .
So this must be Pre-World War II ? , and the work of Willie Fernie ? .
If I am right and it is the same Greensite , which do you prefer ? . Donald Steels or Willie Fernies ?
