Finally it's over. Let's review the stupid things this IMG, ABC Sports & PGA Tour fiasco brought us.1. More Tiger Woods and his self serving demeanor. Most people are tired of this guy and his over zealous behavior. 2. Poor officiating. If my memory serves me, aren't the PGA Tour rules officials in a union represented by the same jerk who reresents the MLB umpires union--Richie Phillips? The official running this thing told Duval his ball was in the water on the 6th hole. Then we saw Woods' caddie, in attempting to help, signal Duval that he wouldn't want to try to play his ball from within the water hazard and to drop a ball under the water hazard rule. This was giving him advice and Woods should have lost the hole. Bad officiating. 3. Caddie controlling rules. This same official decides 20 minutes prior to the match starting that he'll inform the two caddies that they would not be able to wear shorts. Apparently both were wearing them when told. Now, its blown up and the PGA Tour has hinted that to wear shorts may mean disciplinary action. Yeah, right. Who gives a damn that the caddies wear shorts. Just because the heat index doesn't exceed 100 (some stupid PGA Tour guideline being tested) shouldn't result in discomfort. Heck, Duval had sweat stains all over his long pants. His caddie wore a pair of slacks that had rolled up bottoms. They looked like what some street person would wear. As The Golf Channel and the writers there have told us, we haven't heard the end of this breaking story!4. Lights. Give me a break. I understand that ABC Sports came up with this brilliant idea. Why then, doesn't every tournament put them up and the PGA Tour could play 24 hours a day? 5. $1 million paid to the PGA Tour by IMG a rights fee. This is like a bookie paying the mafia. If you pay the PGA Tour enough, they'll let anybody do anything. Both organizations should be investigated for illicit business practices. Heck, for that kind of money you'd think the Tour would have sent out caddie dress codes and an official who knows the rules.6. Sherwood Country Club. What other place would pay $1 million plus to expose their course and real estate. Say, I believe they gave O. J. Simpson a membership when the Shark Shootout was going to be played there. I missed little Jimmy Roberts on course interview with him. 7. Curtis Strange. "I'll tell you one thing" was worse than ever. Re the rocks in the 16th fairway--"I don't know what they are". God help me if my child ever wants to go to Wake Forest.8. ESPN. Because they are owned by Disney, as is ABC, all you get is an unbiased opinion on this entire joke by this sports network that is usually so refreshing in its reporting.
