What design features make for your favorite shots?
« on: January 29, 2012, 12:48:50 PM »
There are hundreds, cross bunkers to challenge off a drive, a tree or flag in distance to grip and rip at, taking aim at the edge of trap and deciding how close you want to cut it for maximize access to green. All those 2nd shots or the sheer thrill of so many shot game shots where you feed ball to fall line then let it drift down to the cup, feed the ball up and around or just a plane up hill pitch to a pin you must stay below.  Which parts of the game or shots which our architects give us make your blood flow with excitement?

Internal green contours that can be used to shape a shot.

One of the reasons I sometimes think I preferred Barnbougle (Dunes and Lost Farm) to Royal Melbourne (East and West) was the number of "circus" shots that came into play.  Sometimes these features allow you to get away with a bad shot, sometimes its a just reward for a bit of imagination.
