Paul-

Waterwood National is a good course, but it is also pretty difficult.  I think a few years back it was ranked as one of the 50 toughest courses in America.

I would reccomend you play it.

Here is the link www.waterwoodnational.com

Let's just say that, theoretically, someone had to fly into Houston on real short notice Friday night for business and leave Sunday night or Monday morning and had room for two rounds of golf, max, in his schedule....ideally, which of the following would/should he want to play: Locknivar, Tradition Course at Cypresswood, Southwyck, and Sugar Creek?  Anything else in suburbs of Houston (ie, not named Houston when I search, whoops I mean "he searches" the net) of interest, hidden gem status, etc?

Just theoretically, of course.

The order in which you listed these courses is exactly the order of preference you should have for playing them. My suggestion would be to forget Southwyck and Sugar Creek.
Southwyck has major course condition issues and Sugar Creek, where I was a member for 17 years is a rather defanged Robert Trent Jones design that he disavowed after viewing changes made to soften up the course for the predominantly older members.

Dave,
Did you read the rest of this thread?
I ask, because I wonder how you came up with those selections?

Where are you staying?
The problem is there is no must see course...

plus it's pretty cold, like 50 degs, it's freezing.
Thinking of Bob, Rihc, Bill, George, Neil, Dr. Childs, & Tiger.

real simple, if its tomorrow it should be nice for weekend.. but a little wet from last day's rain, therefore must get to sloped venues

assuming you can't get comp'd at Carlton Woods or Redstone, ..

From either airport, Intergalatic (IAH) or City (Hobby).. fly in.. go work...

round one saturday - Blaketree National, north of magnolia, the best hidden gem I've found

go directly to Pappasitos for mixed fajitas and brochette shrimp & margaritas

round two - go Tradition ( i've heard Lochinvar's greens are in bad shape, also private entry issue), or

Alternatively High Meadow Ranch or Fish Creek 2nd & 3rd 9's or
alternatively Woodlands venues Player (favorite), TPC, Palmer, Oaks, Panther Trail with Ms Sheila & I
or
alternatively you may be amused at Ireland, England, And Scotlands 9's at Magnolia Creek in League City
or
if really pressed on 2nd round, just do Memorial Park front 9..

You missed the best at southwyk about 10 years ago, nix sugar creek

theoretically of course, i also can carry an extra set of clubs in the trunk for visitors..

10 day forecast looks like mostly sunny, 60°F +/- 3°
